Welcome to the all new Harbour Lights website.

The Harbour Lights began life in early 2005 acting as house band for Soulcafe, a regular event at St Paul's Church, Derby.

From the acoustic roots nucleus of songwriters Phil Baggaley and Ian Blythe and vocalist Bethan Court, the band evolved into a wonderful, genre-defying blend incorporating elements of folk, country and rock with the addition of Steve Canner on upright and electric bass, Rob Bullock on acoustic and electric guitars and Chris Pearson on drums and percussion.   The bands debut EP, "The Harbour Lights" was closely followed by their debut album "Leaving Safe Anchorage" which was released in the summer of 2006 and received rave reviews:

"The charm of English acoustic music shines through this six piece group with stunning vocals from Bethan Court" - Mick Peat Folkwaves, BBC in the Midlands

"Bethan Court's striking vocals are incredibly haunting....the songwriting thoughtful and considered....almost spiritual....the lights are shining on" - Emma Shaw, Derby Evening Telegraph

"The Harbour Lights debut on a high, fronted by the quite magical voice of Bethan Court....subtle....considered....intelligent....intimate....the music comes beautifully together....if they are 'live' in your area, you would do well to travel with them. Second best would be to wear out the CD" - Phil Thompson - CrossRhythms

At the beginning of 2007 the band added world percussionist Stuart Wood to the line-up.   And soon after that, it was back into the studios to record their second album "Closed for the Winter" which was released at the end of May 2007.
